Young birch leaves thinned in the forests of Aibetsu-cho, Hokkaido in mid-May were harvested and distilled in the Shiro Laboratory of MAISON SHIRO, which opened this spring in Naganuma-cho, Hokkaido. This "Shirobaba Face Mist 2024" is the first item to be distilled and commercialized at the Shiro Laboratory.
This year, too, we received birches thinned by lumberjacks who are creating the forests of the future in order to protect the natural cycle of plants and organisms. For distillation, we use "fresh" young leaves attached to twigs like clusters. Young leaves wilt within a few days after harvesting, so they are immediately transported to the Shiro Laboratory where they are distilled "fresh. In this way, the laboratory space is filled with the subtle sweetness of freshly picked leaves and the fragrance of fresh greenery. This face mist is a very simple formula that combines aromatic distilled water extracted from the young leaves used in sauna vihitas, and sap collected this spring when the snow began to melt by inserting tubes directly into birch trees in the town of Etanbetsu, Hokkaido.
